چکیده

Original z-bu er method is a very e cient method for image generation. The limitation is that it introduces aliases into the output image. Although many di erent kinds of methods have been published to address this problem. most of them su er from requiring a large memory space, demanding for high computational power, or having some other limitations. In this paper, we propose a simple anti-aliased method based on the supersampling method. However, instead of supersampling every pixel, we supersample edge pixels only. This method has the advantages of requiring less memory and less processing time than the traditional supersampling method. It is also less problematic than some other rendering methods in handling intersecting surfaces.

Entropy-based Adaptive Supersampling

Ray tracing usually needs supersampling to reduce aliasing or noise in the nal image. Not all the pixels in the image require the same quantity of rays, thus adaptive supersampling is implemented by adaptive subdivision of the sampling region, resulting in a renement tree. We present here a theoretically sound adaptive supersampling method based on entropy, an information theory approach with...

Adaptive Supersampling Using Machine Learning Techniques

Previous work in adaptive supersampling methods have utilized algorithmic approaches to analyze properties of the object space or image space which might benefit from increased supersampling. These techniques generally increase the computational complexity of simple supersampling, reducing the potential performance gain from employing adaptive supersampling. In this paper, we describe an experi...

Adaptive Supersampling in Object Space Using Pyramidal Rays

We introduce a new approach to three important problems in ray tracing: antialiasing, distributed light sources, and fuzzy reflections of lights and other surfaces. For antialiasing, our approach combines the quality of supersampling with the advantages of adaptive supersampling. In adaptive supersampling, the decision to partition a ray is taken in image-space, which means that small or thin o...

Ray Tracing With Adaptive Supersampling in Object Space

We introduce a new approach to two important problems in ray tracing: antialiasing and distributed light sources. For antialiasing, adaptive supersampling in object space (ASOS) combines the quality of supersampling with the speed of adaptive supersampling. In adaptive supersampling, the decision to partition a ray is taken in imagespace, which means that small or thin objects may be missed ent...

Entropy-based Adaptive Sampling

Ray tracing techniques need supersampling to reduce aliasing and/or noise in the final image. Since not all the pixels in the image require the same number of rays, supersampling can be implemented by adaptive subdivision of the sampling region, resulting in a refinement tree. In this paper we present a theoretically sound adaptive sampling method based on entropy, the classical measure of info...
